Kangra (H.P.)
INDIA
In 1961, a small clinic providing traditional Tibetan medical care opened in the main encampment for Tibetan refugees in India. Men-Tsee-Khang is now a large complex in a spacious compound where traditional medical theory and practice are taught to over fifty students per year. Identifying, gathering and preparing ingredients for medicines, and preparing the hundreds of different medicines is just as important as diagnosis and the various aspects of treatment. Men-Tsee-Khang has a pharmacy, an in-patient
unit and
a surgical ward; along with Tibetan refugees, non-Tibetans from nearby
areas and patients from all over the world are treated. Also, an
astrological
department provides training and services in traditional Tibetan
medical
astrology.
